"I believe Jesus teachings were divine"

Why?

What do you know about His teachings?

How do you qualify any source for "Jesus teachings"??

"First of all, people don't HAVE to do anything"

You misunderstood my comment. I said "When you run into contradictions you need to either reconcile them (as fundamentalists attempt unsuccessfully to do to show that the bible is inerrant and infallible), or you can simply cherry pick the things that appear Divinely inspired to you and toss out the rest."

This means that to justify a contradiction one must advance certain criteria. My comment had nothing to do with duress.

"claiming 'mythology' to be truth however would be less than integrous"

Whatever that means? I have no "truth" claims to make about mythology...
