Elliott didn't use the WY notation. He wrote ABC-X-ABC for the double zigzag. Prechter calls it WXY which does make more sense. Still, the principle of Occam's razor I think suggests that the simplest possible count should be adopted unless there is strong evidence to suggest otherwise. Prechter invented the leading diagonal.
