re: Pro-war votes may haunt Democrats

It's tough... it's why bad wars last so long. At the early stage when everybody is gung ho over shock and awe, it takes a hell of a lot of courage for a politician to be anti-war, and essentially be labeled a traitor. Later when the reality of body bags sets in, it hard to say "I was wrong". People don't like to hear that from politicians.

Russ Feingold has this problem too, but he's the only Dem currently urging a deadline to begin withdrawing troops. Also in his favor:

McCain-Feingold campain finance reform

He was the ONE in the 99 to 1 Senate vote for the Patriot Act.

He's a Senator from Wisconsin.

Ted, Pro-war votes may haunt Democrats

Just like the pro-war statements many Democrats made when Clinton was president? I agree.

Time to stand for something ...
