SMU is usually ranked below UT in Texas law schools. It is a fine school. I think this whole "Ivy League" thing is overblown. There is talent in all law schools. Getting into a top law school indicates some raw intelligence and test taking skill....but where do you take that innate ability? Ms. Miers started off looking at a medical career, if memory serves, and turned to the law later. This could have limited her choice of schools, as could financial issues. I want to see her writing. I want to see her analytic skills on complex issues. I want to see her express an understanding of the role of the court, and the tenants of the the Constitution. So far, I am not favorably impressed because so little has been revealed or presented.
