Islamic fundamentalism is the danger. Saddam was a secular muslim with a disdain for the whackos. A disarmed Saddam posed little danger to anyone, least of all America.

Cheney had it in his head that Saddam had to go and fanned the post 9/11 paranoia with false and misleading intelligence to justify the war.

He was right in that defeating the Iraqi army would be easy. He was wrong with respect to everything else.

Still he was a potential danger. It's not black and white.
