George W. Bush, the "education president", spent $15,600 per student of State money in Texas - excluding additional Federal funds spent on Texas education. Keep in mind that the cost of living is far lower in Texas than in California.

Compare $7,500 per year with $15,600.

It should come as no surprise that communities like Lafayette and Orinda raise more private donations for their K-12 schools than they receive from the state.

With these really large donations of roughly $9,000+ per student per year, my nephews enjoy the same education I received at the same schools. Of course when I went to school there, the entire tab was paid for by the State of California.

Of course communities without the same financial resources receive an education which is far inferior to the education their parents received in California.

I can understand this means little to you since you don't see value in education. But you will pay for this all the same. Societies with an educated populace know how to adapt and earn wealth. I know you'll point out that we no longer need to earn anything since we can simply get a larger Home Equity Loan to pay for things. But I can assure you that this will not work successfully in the long run.

If you prefer to live in a Third World nation like Mexico where they don't throw money away on education, you should move to Mexico where people have long shared your preferences.
