The point is, if Democrats don't unify they will not be able to take advantage of this Bushie self-destruction and judgement day.

If centrists and liberals are fighting, and if liberals blame centrists for "appeasing Bush" (not true anyway) they will be split and that will help minimize the damage to the GOP next year and beyond.

Also, if the Dems put up a dove candidate like McGovern in 2008, someone like McCain will come in and win by a landslide. Like it or not, swing state voters in places like Missouri like leaders with military mettle. That's why Rove's whole focus on war hero Kerry was to lie and make him out to be weak, cowardly and even a traitor. He smeared Kerry's greatest strength, and did the same to McCain in 2000.

But forget about 2008 for now. Just deal with 2006. And fight for the most electable democratic congressional candidates we can find.
