I just finished State of Fear- the Crichton book about global warming. Just a good adventure, sort of far out, but with a lot of little lectures, research and facts tossed in. Starting on Quarantine next, which I found in LARGE PRINT at the library!

Of all the things I've watched recently, the thing I've enjoyed the most is the HBO series "Rome."

The rental movies haven't made much of an impression. I enjoyed "Children of Paradise" but the ending didn't make any sense -- I actually tried to find Part III because I thought I was missing a disk.

I enjoyed "Red Beard" and "Chushingura" aka "The 47 Ronin" but they didn't grab me.

The fantasy scenes in "Finding Neverland" almost made up for the painfulness of the rest of it. Julie Christie as a pill, I ask you. And Johnny Depp in a high collar and a Scottish brogue, what were they thinking!

Reading, I mostly read economic history, dreadfully boring stuff, I fear.

Just FYI- Nothing, by the guy who did The Cube, turns out to be fantastic. It's an existentialist parable for a wired urban society. It's a fairy tale for people who liked Waiting for Godot. It's probably one of the most original movies I've seen since I saw Waking Life.

See this movie- and then get back to me, because I would love to talk about it with someone else!
