I agree with you that Israel can defend itself. If Iran launched a nuke at Israel, they could probably wipe Israel off the map, but Israel has nuke capable subs that would be able to ensure Iran is also wiped off the map, even after Israel ceased to function as a sovereign state.

Now having said all that, you are wrong about one thing. The U.S. has committed many many times over the last 50 years to come to Israel's aid whenever they are in need. This President has said, "Israel has no greater friend than this administration."

Frankly, I believe in loyalty between countries. If I had to choose between Islamofascists or wacky Israelis, I'd choose the Israelis any day. They are a little crazy, but they are a free people. There are as many stripes of Jews as there are Americans. And most important, they share our values.

Among the Muslims in the Middle East, their beliefs and customs are very foreign to Western culture. They have very little freedom, suppress their women, and have a backward culture. Putting political correctness aside for just one moment, we have to ask ourselves, do we really want this type of culture to dominate our world? I sure as hell hope it never does. We'd all live in the hell the Middle East Muslims have made for themselves. That would be a life not worth living.

JCP, but the country being threatened is Israel, not the United States.

So let the Middle East turn into glass?

Re: Iran's threats are disturbing, and seemingly very stupid,...

Not that stupid, Chris.... President Mahmood Ahmadinejad's outburst against Israel was not so much a death threat as a cunning way to flush Israel out of the brush. Indeed, the Iranian leadership is well aware of Israel's PR strategy all along, namely, keeping a low-profile and letting the US occupy the stage. Unlike Iraq, Iran doesn't want the Judeofascists' PR scheme to succeed in spinning the whole crisis as a "WMD/terrorism/world peace" baloney. As an earlier post of mine(*) shows, (pro-)Israeli media always make sure that the Iranian crisis is NOT presented as an Israeli problem, as an "Israel vs (put any Muslim country)" issue... Israel and her Judeofascist allies in the West keep talking of "THE WORLD doesn't want Iran to...", "the INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY is worried about Iran...".

Now, if anything, Mahmood Ahmadinejad's candid, if unsettling, utterance has blown the lid off Israel's covert, central involvement.
