(1) Pay equity, equal rights for women, etc are civil laws not criminal laws. Dumping toxic waste on the other hand is criminal. As is endangering the welfare of a child. As is a host of other work related issues. So no, your point does not stick as I was only discussing criminal laws. (you should note that civil and criminal laws are different categories of law).

(2) I am all for reducing wastage and living within our means. I don't see how you can change that though. Ours has been a consumerism culture for a very long time.

(3) "We" do not shift manufacturing out of the country. The factory owners do. It is their property and they should be allowed to do with it whatever they want. BUT as someone who has outsourced work to India and China (and decided to bring back most of it) I can tell you that outsourcing is not a trivial task. Wages are not the only reason that factories move out. A very big part of it has to do with environment and labour safety laws. To see this you need to look at how the environment "protection" laws were changed by Bush & Co in CAFTA. It will be enlightening. The Bush Admin removed the ability of future US governments to tell American companies operating in Mexico to comply with US environment laws!

The bottom line is that there is no way you can tell me where to spend my money. Nor is it going to be practical to impose taxes on foreign goods. BUT you can push for laws that prevent import of goods into US if those goods were made through violation of US criminal code.
