<Why do you think that was the case> The manufacture of the drug is not simple. I think they have been dependent upon one "component" supplier for the extraction of what they need from the star anise. That process is complex and the supply is limited. Maybe they were concerned about being squeezed that way. The politicos in Taiwan, the US, India all know a good soapbox when they see one. Roche was working on it without a push from Schumer. Except in the US they are more concerned about hoarding by individuals.
