If I, as a woman, come out against freedom for women, I think NOW could reasonably question my commitment to women's issues, and to women in general. If, for example, I wanted women to be paid less than men in order to encourage women to go back to their homes and raise babies, then I think I could justifiably be called an Uncle Tom by people who perceived that I was oppressing women. Other people would no doubt praise me for being true to my sex for suggesting women be allotted that "special" place in the home, at the center of the family, where they belong.

Both opinions are valid as opinions. I would probably agree more with the first- but that doesn't stop me from saying that I find the expression of both pov's to be legitimate.
