In my judgment, these people never had any sympathy for civil rights in any way, shape or form to begin with. That is simply not so. Racism and male chauvinism may not have been eradicated yet but the movements to eradicate them have passed their climaxes in our culture, IMO, and are in a denouement phase that calls for different treatments. I was way too active in both movements to suffer being told I never had any sympathy for them. I think that people who haven't gained that perspective are beating a couple of dead horses and doing their movements a great disservice.
