Nascar is very big in North Carolina and so is the Baptist movement. Religion and Nascar go hand in hand so that Jesus rides with each driver.. I would guess..

"Many women came to have unrealistic expectations. That is a shame."

None more than the women who started the movement.

" I don't every once remember anyone stating better parenting as an objective of the movement"

And that's the whole problem. This was a blinkered movement from the start, that failed to consider the important work women were already doing, failed to give it value, and fight for its value, because a few women wanted some sort of male-type parity in the job market, and to try to fight for a world where women were accorded value for their unique contributions would have endangered the movement to make them just like men (even though that is ultimately impossible). What a way to sell the bulk of women out- imo.
