And that's the whole problem. This was a blinkered movement from the start, that failed to consider the important work women were already doing, failed to give it value, and fight for its value, because a few women wanted some sort of male-type parity in the job market, and to try to fight for a world where women were accorded value for their unique contributions would have endangered the movement to make them just like men (even though that is ultimately impossible). What a way to sell the bulk of women out- imo.

I don't believe this.

The womens movement has to begin somewhere. It is only the beginning. We are not nearly half way there. Kholt is terribly wrong on this. Don't let her get away with this <ggg>.

And that's the whole problem.

I think we're finally coming to some understanding here. It may have been a wrongheaded movement but it was a successful movement based upon its objectives.

Some women in certain jobs may only make seventy percent of what men make, but there was a time when they couldn't have had the jobs at all. You might correctly retort that there was a time when they didn't need to get them.

I'm confident, however, that you would have been miserable under the old system. As would I.

So, now that the old movement has been successful, perhaps there needs to be a new movement.
