Perhaps South Africa just wanted SOME return on the development costs, and Israel was willing to pay it? I imagine the nuclear scientists wanted to keep working on the bombs too, and Israel would pay them to do so.

It's really interesting to read the development history in S. Africa. It takes while to get the bomb..

It fairly recently came out that some of the Israeli technology was provided by lower level "fifth columnists" in the British government with dual loyalties. Israel is in the unique position of having such "agents" worldwide.
