Perhaps balance may be a good idea? You first have to figure out which characteristics are important enough to balance and also lend themselves to balancing. Clearly we don't want to balance smart ones with stupid ones or tall ones with short ones. The first is self defeating and the second is irrelevant. I would submit that gender, ethnicity, and religion are all but irrelevant. At least they should be. And we do ourselves no favor by hyping them as relevant.
