If you want to maintain that Saddam was making the citizens life worse and worse then it is necessary to prove that first before using it as the basis of another argument.

Fair enough, if you think necessary.

1- Something like 300,000 dead in mass graves since he came to power (in a population of ~20 million). Sounds like he murdered 1.5% of the population (if the numbers are accurate). That's one hell of a restructuring!
2- Prohibiting Shias (~65% of the population) from practicing their religious rituals including pilgrimages and God knows what else.
3- Likely widespread institutionalised discrimination of Shias and Kurds (~80% of the population) and favoritism to Sunnis. That's got to be miserable for the Iraqi population as a whole.
4- Policies that drove 4 million Iraqis to leave the country during his regime (~20% of the population). He must have been doing something wrong.

So is that enough, or do you want more? But even if he was the garden variety despot, eventually they ALL should be removed from power, if you ask me.
