Anything with Robert Duval and Tommy Lee Jones in it is, ipso facto, worth watching.

Lonesome Dove is a very great movie, in my opinion. The story and the characters are perfect. I've probably seen it a dozen or more times.

I've always loved Westerns because I lived outdoors a lot when I was a kid and could visualize the action. Some of them were pretty cheesy on reflection, but not Lonesome Dove, nor any of the related movies Streets of Laredo or Deadman's Walk.

I pretty much like any movie Robert Duvall plays in because he's such a great actor.

What I like about Westerns, particularly the McMurtry variety, is that the characters take responsibility for themselves in a hostile environment, and they act decisively whether or not they are right. By contrast, today's political pros (to get us back on topic), often conceal their true motives.

To start up a real argument here, I think George Bush is a decisive character right out of the McMurtry mold. That's one of the reasons why I like him.
