Here's the deal.. By claiming you think the US wants to "control" the oil, then it logically follows that you..

1.) Don't believe Iraqi oil belongs to the Iraqi people as a nation, and they have no right to derive the benefits of via a democratically elected, thus accountable, government.

2.) That you believe Iraq's oil resources should be placed back into the control of a minority ethnic group which plunder the wealth to build monuments to their own grandiose delusions of ethnic elitism.

3.) That it's better to permit the Islamic militants to control oil production and where the benefits/revenues from it are distributed. (Funding Jihad, Madrassas, and putting a death grip on the Global economy)

If this is the kind of logic that you fall back on, I'm beginning to understand your problem.

1.) Don't believe Iraqi oil belongs to the Iraqi people as a nation, and they have no right to derive the benefits of via a democratically elected, thus accountable, government.

I do believe that the Iraqi oil belongs to the Iraqi people. Unfortunately the neocon republicans supported Saddam for decades entrenching him in wealth and power. We did owe it to the Iraqi people to help them over throw the guy that we propped up. However invasion and occupation was not what I had in mind.

2.) That you believe Iraq's oil resources should be placed back into the control of a minority ethnic group which plunder the wealth to build monuments to their own grandiose delusions of ethnic elitism.

This has been the status quo for decades. The Saudis are an example of this kind of control. Does this set well with Bush? You bet is does...the Saudi Royalty are like family...very wealthy family. We won't be invading Saudi Arabia any time soon to deliver their oil to the people!

3.) That it's better to permit the Islamic militants to control oil production and where the benefits/revenues from it are distributed. (Funding Jihad, Madrassas, and putting a death grip on the Global economy)

This must be a red herring. Who will buy oil from terrorists knowing full well that the money they spend on oil with them will be the same money that finances terror attacks right back on them? The reason the oil has value is because a huge western economy needs it. So you contend that we will slit our own throats, pay any price for oil, even to terrorists...just to satisfy our habit? You gotta get off the kool aid kid.

And speaking of grinning, I just have to grin when I see people like you make the empty claim that somehow the US is "controlling" Iraqi oil. IF that were the case, we wouldn't be paying MARKET PRICE to the Iraqis for their oil. We'd be receiving a discount, or even free oil from them.

Why not pay market price? Hey the neocons are free market champions. And where does the money go? Well it goes towards propping up the fledgling democracy that we're creating, so that the flow of oil will continue on it's journey to the west. Sometimes the wires on the marrionette are so thin, you can hardly see them. And what companies will profit from the rebuilding and modernization of the Iraqi oil facilities? Will these be Iraqi companies? Don't make me choke on my breakfast!

One day you're gonna wake up and find that the straw in your head has become a brain...I hope. So long as you keep drinking the kool aid, ie watching Fox News, it's going to take a while...
