OT RE: "36% of the trade deficit is oil..."

I didn't know that - how come only China gets blamed for the trade deficit all the time, when oil is more than a third of the problem?

At least with China you get to keep what you buy. With oil, it just disappears into the air in the form of pollution.

There are so many reasons to get off the oil dependency:

- not funding a regime that supports oppression and thus indirectly funds terrorism
- pollution
- trade deficit
- impacts consumer spending thus stock market

John C, so the govt initiated an allocation rule in the 70s? What other things did the govt impose in the 70s related to oil?

Regards,
Amy J
