Averaged over the time from 1820 to 1956, Britain's military costs ran about 6.9% of their GNP. Well we must not be managing as well, since all our "empire" costs seem to be going to debt. And I think the Brit's got many more profitable advantages from their adventures. Thanks for the interesting info! John
