Sounds like pretty good times, pay or no. Being around animals is a very worthwhile experience for kids. Takes a lot of the mystery out of the reproductive cycle, eliminates the need to giggle while doing mundane chores like checking to see if the testicles have dropped on a young colt. City kids miss out on a lot. I suspect young girls would have a different approach to life if they had the experience of helping deliver farm babies over a summer or two. Geez, I was humming the theme to "Green Acres" while typing this....;)
