The core ideology of Communism and Socialism is exactly the same.

Liberalism and (albeit European) Socialism is the same. (quote: AS)

European Socialism and Communism are very closely related.

A number of the European socialist parties now in power date back to 1956, when they were created out of protests against the Soviet invasion of Hungary only.

Prior to that communism was all dandy with little need for specific socialist parties in Europe.
