In part because I have worked in the past with the NGOs that are determined to torpedo as many mining ventures in South America as they can ... of course, it is next to impossible to torpedo a state enterprise or a huge multinational like Barrick. Not so difficult to do it to a junior ... and if it is not a town, then it will be a tailings or endangered species or etc. next time. I am not bullish on SA juniors until the metal prices get to levels where it becomes vastly in the state's interest to extract the resources ... we are not even close to that level yet, especially given energy prices.
