Silver is a well known virucide (Google it).

The problem is that big pharma has no way to patent formulations. Consequently they cannot pocket huge profits ala Tamiflu, and there is no push to educate the medical community as to its efficacy.

As a result, they have prevailed on the FDA, to rule out its use, in spite of years of use in medicine, as a recognized medicine for control of bacterial and viral infections.

For decades a standard practice was to apply a silver solution in the eyes of newborns to ward off infections.

Now they are denying it's value.

Here is what the FDA hung their hat on in their claims about colloidal silver:

"....the human consumption of silver may result in argyria -- a permanent ashen-gray or blue discoloration of the skin, conjunctiva, and internal organs."

And here is an expanded dicussion about the disease "argyria".

The author states:

"1) Argyria is so rare it makes national news when it occurs, and 2)You can get Argyria if you make it 100 times too strong and take 8 times the recommended dose for 4 years."

I know that I will be laying in a substantial quantity of colloidal silver if the H5N1 avian virus does make the human leap.

I also think there is a chance that this possibility may impact total silver demand.

Claude

no known effect against asian flu :-(

only thing you could do at the moment is stockpile tamiflu which i did as a simple hedge

just buy enuff for 3-4 months then the vaccine will be operational

anyway danger of birdflu pandemic exists already for thousand years so there is a lot of hype in it

on the other side 3-4m dont cost that much :-)

felt like buying puts hoping it will expire worthless
