Cuba is not a threat, and we could do a lot more to moderate what will come after Castro by establishing ties with them now. What has happened to China, because of trade, will (I suspect) happen to Cuba. There will be abuses as long as it is a dictatorship, but things will improve for the people.

Our policy toward Cuba is stupid, and the Cuban people in the US who have this rabid 1950's fear of Castro's Cuba, are trapped in a time warp. It just shows that our leaders will listen to anyone, even the insane, when they think it would hurt their chances for reelection (and that, imo, is what happened to the Dems over the Iraq war).

Our system of government is putrid, at times, but it is better than most other systems out there. Doesn't mean we can't try to make it better though. Write your representatives about Cuba. Tell them you want a new policy.
