The difference between some drugs which are legal, (alcohol for example) and soft illegal drugs is law... Society has determined to date that certain drugs should be allowed to be consumed. Some countries provide more restrictions on that consumption.

Countries will not legalize more drugs in the near future. There are worthwhile studies and arguments to be considered, but it will not happen. So, all we have are differences of opinions regarding the issue, but nothing more. It is a mute point.

Bill, When you get down to the absolute basis, anything taken, or used, in excess, is bad for the body, and/or mind. Somewhere the wise words were said; "moderation in all things".

Society, in general, is leaning toward the ugly life style that caused the ancient Roman Empire to collapse, such as a lack of morals, debauchery, drunkeness, homosexuality, and the lack of keeping a strong military to defend the populace. The Romans thought they had the world by a string until somebody yelled; "The vandals are at the gates!!!!".

Drugs, like crystal meth are dangerous even in the brewing of them, and that probably rings true with a lot of the others, but there are some that are not dangerous if used in moderation, but the problem with that, is that people are not inclined to remain in the moderation category.
