Not to make this thread political - the only way to defeat republican slime machines was to have the toughness and shamelessness that Clinton and his team had. How much his presidency is being missed by many. His tenure looks so wonderful after the current joker we got.

But then it is different opinion from yours :-)

I am not a big Carville fan, though I do like to see him make Novak blow up. But Mary was trying to get Bush 41 to do other things that would have helped him and he wouldn't go along with her. I don't think Poppy could believe he'd really lost all of his popularity from the war in such a short time. Also, they couldn't find a Willie Horton on Clinton.

No campaign was meaner than Reagan negotiating to delay the release of our hostages in Iran so Peanut Boy couldn't get credit. And even when those negotiations eventually blew up into Iran Contra, the Party didn't suffer as much as it should have.
