I also respect the fact that we all have the right to agree or disagree with his opinion. I'll add one more to that list: we can call his idea stupid and say it would hand victory to Al Qaeda without questioning his patriotism. It only questions his patriotism if we say he WANTS that outcome, as opposed to thinking it will produce some other outcome, or it may produce that outcome but is absolutely unavoidable. This simple distinction seems entire lost on every Democrat on the Hill, to judge from their remarks.
