Is this correct? Have posted elsewhere. Need a quick answer or rather want a quick one.

Is gold at $499.9 or is this an error?
Was not aware that spot gold even traded on Saturday.

The VALUE of GOLD. To me I can't use it to load up deathmatch online and play you a friendly game, my dad can't use it to clean his blood in his dialysis machine - my niece couldn't use it to dance too - so she pawned her gold bracelet and bought some brittney cd's.

The VALUE of gold as you are hoping for requires a lot of people on the planet only accepting it in trade for thier goods and services that you will consume - if I could eat it, rent it out to a family, dance to it, use it in dialysis - etc etc it would have more VALUE to me and other human beings. Coconut can't call her friends on a lump of gold and won't be wearing GOLD jeans or driving a GOLD car - GOLD has no real VALUE to me or most people other than the thousand year old meme.

OIL has value, I can burn it to make my cars and tanks go and my computer fire up and play you in deathmatch and heat my house - gold can do none of that.

phonescoop.com Here is I site I read a lot - they have great news on the latest in the cell phone world - the new qualcomm chips with high speed bandwidth is exciting to me. I just fear Mqurice and friends won't be able to enforce patents worldwide. Will GOLD let me access the net wirelessly on my cellphone with fast broadband speeds General?

Qualcomm Wednesday announced they have achieved peak download speeds of 3.6 Mpbs using a new HSDPA chipset. The chips are not available for new handsets yet, but samples were used to test download speeds using existing network equipment from a number of suppliers. Qualcomm has additionally said they hope to reach speeds of 7.2 Mbps on the same chipset in the near future. This advancement confirms earlier reports that HSDPA networks support download speeds of 3.6 Mbps or higher, but that initial phones for the network would only be capable of supporting 1.8 Mbps.

General - I just can't get into my worldview how allocating capital to GOLD makes my life better, yours better, or makes the world a better place - allocating capital to GOLD does not increase mankinds science or knowledge - does not bring new products or ideas to market - it will only be a good idea if people feel scared, lose faith in the modern world and its financial systems, and will only trade me items for shiny metal - I don't foresee that happening. I want fun, knowledge, entertainment, education - not a dust collector that sits on the shelf with no use to me.

However gold to dollars has being going up and perhaps that is an indicator people are not as positive on the US dollar as the past - I know buffet is down on the US dollar - still - even if the US dollar does fall tremendously - I just can't see physical GOLD ever being a serious large part of any investment portfolio. I see other producing countries and emerging markets currency going up and balancing out whatever fall the US dollar will have - but you must see all currencies collpasing if you are heavily investing in GOLD.

I drove by BBY last night to see all the people lined up for the new XBOX 360 - I ask them what do they intend to have they did not have before - the games are all about the same - just a little better graphics - and that is about all many of them said - better faster graphics. NEW IDEAS that STIMULATE the imagination are what really GRIP people - the same old idea with just a few tweeks doesn't really hold them for long.

I don't know if you keep up with it, but the next revolution in gaming is going to be VR - watch movies like the matrix or the lawnmower man - its no longer enough to GRASP people with just more flashy graphics or connectivity to virtual communities - the future is a HOLODECK type system like in star trek. VR goggles that IMMERSE you inside of the gaming world and make you feel you are really in there taking bullets or driving the car - not just looking at a flat screen.

If MSFT or Sony want to really hit a grandslam - they have to go to the next level of human imagination - the graphics subsystems are getting fast enough now to handle stereoscopic fully immersed 3d movies and gaming. When MSFT comes out with a sterescopic desktop environment like was in the movie "disclosure" - and game systems designed around a full color high rez 3d world - it will change things. We are not far off - maybe another 5 years. The next generation of consoles should support this. 2010-2012.

I can play you in deathmatch on this technology General - we can have fun - but I guess you would rather sit around and take a cloth to your dust collector and polish it - hey to each his own.

I used to play a game called PIRATES - and then the seven cities of GOLD - that was more fun to me and enriching than any lump of metal sitting buried in my back yard.

General what was the greater loss? The burning of the library of alexandria? Or the theft of all her gold? Why?
