I saw Powell on Charlie Rose - part 1 of 2. Anyone else see that?

Problem is what do we do now, assuming we made a mistake in invading Iraq, which I think we did - and will become more and more acknowledged over time by all, even those who supported it in 2002-2003.

We did not put in sufficient troops to do the job. The Powell Doctrine from Gulf War I was essentially abandoned.

150,000 troops now versus 500,000 then.

So where do we go from here? I don't know the answer, and see no good solutions at this point.

I am inclined to think we should support a phased withdrawal to be ending by the end of 2006 at the latest, but this may require even more resources by us in 2006 to stabilize as we do that.

It is a mess that did not have to happen.
