No. Take away the $125 AOL rebate and it's $399 for a 40gb drive, 256mb ram notebook. There are occasional ads for Celeron or Sempron notebooks at that price (though I haven't seen a Sempron one for a while, only Celeron).

My point was just that Notebook OEMs now need to offer Intel notebooks at prices equal to or below the prices of AMD based notebooks - which is quite a change.

Intel got a very good run out of the money they invested in the Centrion marketing campaign to increase their mobile ASPs, but that surge seems to be fading.

Intel plans to develop similar campaigns for other segments - their "platform" strategy. They need to get going on that, since their ASPs are starting to slide and their competition has started production at a second FAB.

Yeah, I agree, Danni is caught up in the AMD is everything deal. Too bad AMD couldn't make it to the *Black Friday* extravaganza.
