"they maqke no pretense at all of independence from Britain. Not at all a comparable situation"

Lazarus? I brought up the Falklans to demonstrate that BRITAIN stands behind her interests. Nothing to do whatever you think it does not compare to...

A territory and an independent nation are the same?

If Hawaii had been an independent nation in 1941, it's an interesting question as to whether the US would have gotten involved. Seeing that it was a US territory, there was no question. It was an attack on the US.

Can't have that!

OK. 10 good states and 3 territories. :-)
Doesn'r make them any larger or warmer. though. :-)

I suggest you complain to

Do a lot more good than complaining to me. Maybe. :-)

What? You thought we were going to attack and that was a flanking maneuveur? :-)

"It took a long time to get that obvious fact admitted!"

It was never a question. The insinuation was that our involvement was arbitrary. In reality it was the meeting of a duty to our Head of State and a protection of our mutually shared values of democracy and freedom.

Hmmmmm.

It appears that Britain has been invoved in something like a hundred wars since 1867. It also appears you didn't show up for most of them.

"You still have faith in the United Mafia?"

I still recognize that Americans and Canadians come from all countries in the world.

Neither the US OR Canada is the UN. I'd like to think both nations are quite a few cuts above that.

Thus, I think there are good people in all countries;
I never said otherwise. Nor would I.

and I believe that International problems (such as terrorism, nuclear proliferation, genocide, etc.) are best addressed through international policy and cooperation.
Suppose they refuse to cooperate? What then?
Nuclear non-proliferation seems like a Heqq of a good idea. The less available the rotten devices are, the less likely they are to be used. Tell that to NK and Iran.

Afghanistan and the Taliban REALLY cooperated in terrorism suppression, didn't they?

This is an ideal to strive for, I believe.
I believe you speak softly and carry a BIG stick.

As to the Canadians in Iraq. Some are there on your side. And a few are fighting against. One of the problems of multi-culturalism that both our countries have to deal with

SIX SOLDIER???? :-)

CSIS is our Intelligence Agency and they are apparently aware of certain individuals with loyalty to Iraq.

Well, at least he didn't mention any numbers. :-)

"Does the fact that we brought down a cruel butcher in Iraq count for anything?"

I think a lot of Americans are questioning whether or not their children truly needed to die, and it is to them you may wish to address that question. My personal acceptance of the whole matter comes with reservations, as I have said. A lot of people have reservations.

Previously, you said you considered stopping genocide just cause for military intervention.

But I think you must be seen to withdraw in your own time and without any sense of having given up the cause. Once the die is cast all good people must throw in with the troops and see it through. When those kids come home they must realize they risked their lives for something...
They will.
