"I've only been following the headlines."

Well, that is the problem. While he did say immediate, he also qualified it at the time as "consistent with safety of the troops". He even mentioned 6 months as a likely time frame. So there is no "nuance" except in the minds of the spinners.

Sometimes it helps to actually read the articles to which the headlines are attached.

"I'm not for snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory."

We've been in "the jaws of victory for three years! We were "in the jaws of victory" in Vietnam for EIGHT YEARS!

Ted, Murtha never said to withdraw tomorrow within 24 hours but the GOP is intentionally interpreting it that way to make him look the fool.

Huh? I've only been following the headlines. They all said he wanted an "immediate withdrawal." 24 hours or two weeks or whatever, it's a far cry from this six month "nuance" that the Dems are now claiming.

This is an important issue......why don't you read the article instead of skimming the headlines........or do you like it that Murtha looks the fool when he is not?

And the worse part, while you all play, men are dying in Iraq and apparently, you all don't care.

The most effective way to dishonor our fallen troops is to cut-n-run before the job is finished. I'm all for getting the Iraqis to take over their own security ASAP, but I'm not for snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Jaws of victory? Are you really that uninformed? There will be no victory.....so get that out of your head.

As for withdrawal, ignore the will of the people at your own risk.
