"I can confirm that after the events of September 11, 2001, and up to the military operation in Iraq, Russian special services and Russian intelligence several times received ... information that official organs of Saddam's regime were preparing terrorist actas on the territory of the United States and beyond its borders, at U.S. military and civilian locations."

Vladimir Putin

Sounds like a threat to me.

Those of us who had exhibited great enmity for each other because of the war now can share a common view. I still believe this current quag was avoidable if our military had used far more force and/or different tactics but i am far less sure of this than i was before. But that now is an argument for military historians i suspect.
What worries me most now is the continued intractabillty of the bush admin. I watched Rummy on Fox on sunday. The guy must be on drugs. He was flip with his answers and arrogant. I admired the guy in the past for having a sense of humor and being self confident. Now the jokes are in bad taste and the self confidence has turned into an arrogance of power that i have never seen before. Mike
