Re Costco:

I see no reason that any corporation could not buy Dell computers at a volume discount and do what they want with
them. Probably always could.

I would expect a big difference existed in how Dell would support the stores. That is in advertizing and taking back unsold merchandize and guaranteeing the store a specific profit.

No reason I can see that the store could not ask more for the same system as Dell on-line, especially when Dell now adds $99 shipping charge.

stockbull,

Funny you mention Costco. Two weeks ago, my local Costco had a ton of Dell boxes with a single Dell displayed system prominently placed at the entrance to the store. I saw three being sold. In NYS, Dell now charges full tax. No difference retail or web. Dell has been selling systems via Costco's web site for some time now; new to the stores in my area though. A Dell kiosk is now in an area mall.

I believe Dell/AMD was/is just bantering and rumor mongering like the many many times before.

Have a great Thanksgiving!

cheers,
