Tell us what Google spends its revenues on. Forget PC's, think servers. Forget cellphones, think smartphones. Google's software portfolio is obvious, starting with its proprietary search algorythms. I can't see how you miss software. Aren't most google employees software engineers? Any company with that proportion of software engineers is a tech company. If you want to call it a media company that's great. It's the biggest information switch in the world to me.

translate into more PC or cell phone or software sales? No hype, just how does it mean more revenues for tech? Since cell phones are the only relevant category in your list of tech fossils, I will answer you. GOOG has a SMS service which puts google maps on a cell phone. Everybody needs maps in the car, and GPS is a bit expensive for many, this is a nice alternative. You need a color screen for it. so there you go! As for the other categories, PCs and software, what did GM/Ford do in the 20s to inspire the sale of more buggy whips? Nothing? Well then GM/Ford couldn't have been transportation companies I guess.
