JDN, I've come to the conclusion that Americans don't really want to know the realities of dealing with terrorism. I just saw this outstanding program on the History Channel called Heros Under Fire, "Captain Crunch". It was about the CIAs investigation into the 1983 US Embassy bombing in Beirut. The 2 CIA agents did an amazing investigation and had proof through reliable sources and physical evidence that the bombing was funded by Iran on intelligence provided by Syria and carried out by Hezbollah. Upon returning to the states the agents, who should have received medals instead where fired because they had used torture techniques in their interrogations. Those techniques where right out of the CIA handbook and included sleep deprivation etc. Physical violence was only used once when one of the agents knocked the prisoner off his chair. Nothing was ever acted upon by the US. The agent involved, Keith Hall, said the information was blocked at the CIA level.... I got the impression that someone in the Gov't didn't have the stomach to face the issue. A few months later the Marine Barracks in Lebanon was bombed and shortly after the Marines were withdrawn from Lebanon. The apparent lack of conviction on the US side was seen by Iran Syria and a budding terrorist called Osama who later assumed the US was a "paper tiger".

"NO REGARD for AMERICA and the WORLD." The exact opposite actually, it is in regard for American and world that many are speaking out against the president's actions.... Going to war on false premises. Chasing Saddam instead of OBL. Leaking CIA operatives name to further certain interests. Torturing prisoners makes many of us cringe... Not honoring treaty agreements. Balooning defict, etc, etc....
