I found the significance of the Slate article, and my interest in it, to be that the question of relative casualties is much more complicated than a simple comparison of the total number of deaths

Only if you are considering intensity of the conflict, and not total cost. War is hell, large or small. But as an absolute cost to the nation in blood, 2000 casualties is obviously a smaller sacrifice than 50,000.

Gee. Sorry bout dat.

Unlike you, I did not find the article interesting at all, but then I recognized the author's flaw immediately.

Given your oft stated preference for accuracy, I became fascinated when you said you found the article interesting...especially since all the data analysis done in the article is based on a false premise.

I accept that you were interested in the flawed material and remain so.

I also accept that you don't see any significance in my naming the demos I mentioned in my post.

This just tells me you have no appreciation of the importance of accurate historical details when discussing war, yet flawed historical analysis is interesting to you.

I have a suggestion. Go ahead and put me on ignore and go do something important like sharpening your nails.
