Yeah.. consider me a bit biased, but so far as I was concerned, the Soviets were just as bad as the Nazis..

But it was our version of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend".

Besides, I think Hitler was aware that Stalin was planning his own invasion of Poland and Germany. To Hitler, attacking the Soviets was effectively a pre-emptive strike.

I kind of side with Patton with regard to whether we should have kicked the Soviets back to their borders. It sure would have saved 40 years of @sspain and Trillions of dollars in misallocated economic resources (spent to maintain our military supremacy).

But I disagree.. the Soviets DEFINITELY had more soldiers under arms than the Nazis. What they lacked, due to the great purges of the Red Army, were qualified and imaginative Staff officers and Generals (Zhukov being a notable exception).
