That is a hoot:

"I'm saying that the BEST plan our government's BEST military planners and Arabist experts could come up with (...13 volumes in all, the result of three years of inter-agency planning) was unceremonially dumped by a bunch of rosy-view idiots just before the invasion for a back-of-the-envelope 'plan' that amounted to little more then 'pie-in-the-sky' foolishness....

Neo-cons, many with little understanding of the realities of the region and no 'chops' for this kind of nation building planning screwed it up."

So you are saying that the people in the field who had an idea of what was actually happening dumped the rosy-eyed pie in the sky prepared by some desk jockey wonks as soon as the people who had assets at risk identified the plan as not only cumbersome, but unworkable.

Again. That sounds sensible to most people.

I bought a business from a man who ran out of room in his production facility. He told me that the worst thing he ever did was to move his own office out of the heart of the business. He lost connection. He no longer felt the beat of the business. I never made that mistake, even when my co-owner pressured me to make it.

IMO trusting the guy who is taking shots over the theorist behind the lines is a better idea. My father was in a war as a second lieutenant. He claimed that when his CO told him to take a patrol out, he asked the Sergeant what to do, knowing that the guy who was closer to the action knew more about the situation at hand than he could even after his extensive training in OCS and ROTC.

Would you prefer they slog on mired in an unworkable plan?"

CLEARLY NOT!

Good, then we agree. It was a good thing to dump the theoretical wonks' plans.
