Yes, definitely worth reading.

Also when you read the article you see the picture of Odom who actually LOOKS LIKE a thinking, intelligent person.

I am used to pictures of Generals revealing people who look like somewhat disciplined, politically sensitized THUGS. This guy does not look like that.

Maybe there are intelligent, strategic people in the Military.
It is pretty obvious that their political masters are THUGS. That has not been in doubt for a long time.

Anyway, Odom is a guy who does not want his former Military to be bogged down in endless guerilla wars that they will INEVITABLY lose. The maximum power of the Military is the THREAT of its use. Look at Fallujah. The military napalmed, white phosphorused the population and then just about leveled the town. Is it conquered? No way--the "insurgents" are still carrying the battle to the U.S. enemy.

And Fallujah is just one town!

Namaste!

Jim

Thanks scott,

That was a good read.. He is right. It is not a "pottery barn". It is a war with all it's inherent death, destruction and other tragedy. We have a tendency in our society to couch nasty stuff in Madison Avenue" type buzz words.. Sugar coated it goes down better..

Then people can think of what is going on over there as equal to a bunch of clay pots being broke and all we have to do is glue them together or replace them and everything then will be just peachy keen... Well that's NOT the case, Colin Powell can not glue people's lives back together.

Powell, etal just should ask Cindy Sheehan after he has apologized to her and every other person that has lost a loved one there.. Plus the individual Iraqi people.. They have a life time of work ahead of them to get things straight before they move on..

And do it in person..

There is a TV show about a guy that goes around righting things to all the people he wronged.. I just asked my wife, it is called "My Name is Earl". I have only seen a brief part of it.. In real life, it should be called ..

"My name is George" or Dick, or Colin, or Condi or..

(Anything but Sioux <g>)

"And I am here to apologize and to express my deepest regrets for my actions that resulted in the death of ..., I just have to get this off my chest.."
