Gus > Sharon said the West has the military capabilities to handle Iran, but "before anyone decides on a military step, every effort would be made to pressure Iran to halt this activity. It seems to me such efforts can be fruitful," he said.

And I agree with him that the military option is not at the top of the list. Not because Israel doesn't want it, which they do, but because (a) the US can't handle it and (b) the neocons are in disarray and disrepute.

Anyway, I think the prestige and power of the Zionists has reached its zenith and it's downhill all the way now. Furthermore, as result of the US' injudicious meddling in Iraq, prompted of course by the Zionists, Islam is even more in the ascendancy -- an unexpected consequence, if ever there was. Perhaps, in future, the West will learn to leave the Muslims alone and not listen to Zionist rubbish?

>>If U.S. troops leave Iraq to its fate, the biggest beneficiary of the U.S.-led 2003 invasion could be Iran, Iraq's Shiite neighbor to the east, whose fundamentalist regime Bush four years ago branded as part of an "axis of evil" along with Iraq and North Korea, he said.

"In the present situation, I don't see a caliphate at all. What I do see is a strong Islamic Shiite government in Iraq making overtures to Iran, and that will have long-term implications for U.S. interests in the Middle East," Ahmed said.<<
