If it's true, no wonder China opposes religious "freedom" - can you imagine the population crisis they would have if they permitted the opposition above.

I didn't know the Catholic church was against contraceptives. I knew abortions but not contraceptives. I am sure they have their illogical reasons.

Well, yes. Has been true for a long time. You don't hear about it much in the US because the issue of contraceptives caused a split in the Church with American Catholics ignoring that particular encyclical.
