re: Good chance of that. The problem is we have no good solutions any more. What Clark needs to do is something that can't happen. He needs to be able to go to Iraq and talk to the officers and get candid answers. No one will be candid because that is a career limiting move. Look at what happened to those generals who spoke the truth before we invaded, all were summarily drummed out of the military.

I agree, there are not good answers, no military strategy that works. We're painted into a corner by bad decisions from the start.

Ya think any in Congress would have voted for this war if they knew in advance it would result in an insurgency that would last and continue to grow for years, the potential for an Iraq civil war, a couple of US soldiers being killed every day, $100Billion per year ad infinitum, the enmity of the rest of the world? Yet many support it now.

Now they say we made a mess and we have to fix it. Unfortunately there is NO WAY to fix a flawed concept... and only a few have the balls to tell the American people what they need to hear "We fucked up and it's time to cut our losses because it's only going to get worse". Murtha is about it on the honesty side.
