Laz and Thread, We can thank former California Governor Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown (current mayor of Oakland, California) for those weight rooms and other California prison amenities and substantial re-enfranchisement granted to convicted felons. He did away with the long-standing, tried-and-true indeterminate sentencing statutes. And, best of all, he brought us California Chief Justice Rose Elizabeth Bird and her Merry Court of Jesters. I used to work with a retired California police officer who was firmly convinced that the more savvy criminals came to California to commit their crimes because, if caught and convicted, California offered the most hospitable institutions and terms of incarceration. - Holly
