NY Daily News predicts Rummy will resign early next year and Joe Lieberman will be tapped to head DOD. Andrew Sullivan had predicted the same thing on sunday. Lieberman's recent strong support of the administation might have been a signal to the Bush admin. McCain is also supporting the admin for the most part, but attacking Rummy so the third pillar of this potential deal may be unequivocal bush support for McCain in 08. Lieberman becomes a natural as the Veep choice on a unity ticket. He and McCain are best of friends. I am a political junkie so i look for stories like this although it rarely pans out. I thlnk McCain/Lieberman destroys any ticket the democrats could come up with because of the national defense issue.

Joking aside, I see there was another suicide bombing with 30 or so killed today in a bus terminal. It must be getting tough for the suicide bombers to find a decent crowd to bomb these days. I imagine them driving around and around looking for more than one person standing together in a crowd. Also, since their kill rate is only about 20:1, they are going to run out of suicidal people before they run out of people to bomb and it will become more difficult to bomb people as they respond to the bombings by standing further apart, traveling by bicycle instead of bus, politically opposing people who like bombing and Islamic Jihad, and so on. Suicide bombing is like a microbe. Unless it has something to offer, such as vitamin K production, eventually it will be killed off, even if only by it killing the host whose life supports it. And where do all the explosives come from? Maybe there are big, hidden stockpiles all over the place which Saddam's crowd laid down for just such an eventuality as invasion and the need for guerilla war. Okay, enough time goofing off. Reload and start firing!! Try not to be like the moronic Air Marshalls who shot somebody panicking and wanting to get off the flight. Or like the dopey Pommy sheila [police supervisor] who told the front-line police to shoot the Brazilian bloke going about his business. Mqurice
