On BBC World just now, they were showing a Russian gas pipeline under construction, heading for northern Europe. It's about a metre in diameter. It will carry a LOT of gas under the Baltic Sea.

Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and others are getting more competition. There's a big pipeline to go from Alaska to carry gas too.

I use gas, sometimes. I don't need much, though I could swap to a methanol car [when I need a new one].

There is a lot of effort to increase energy supplies and cut consumption, provoked by $60 a barrel for energy. Expect prices to drop. The closed GM SUV plants will not be needing gasoline for their output.
