what is it with the managements of gold companies? are they deaf? or is it just a general 'f*ck you, we don't care' attitude?
at every single gold conference over the past two years there were speakers of considerable stature ( like e.g. John Hathaway ) complaining about the unfortunate tendency to issue massive amounts of new shares on any incipient rally attempt. apparently these admonitions have had zero effect - the recent rally has once again prompted share issues galore. of course those must always be brought into context ( i.e., what do we get in exchange ) . if there's a concrete plan for the use of the proceeds then one can at least quantify the likely effects. it's o.k. to own a smaller share of a pie if that pie grows much bigger.
the sentence to run away from is 'general corporate purposes'. that one means you've been diluted, sorry.

i should make it a rule to never say anything positive about GSS - whenever i do, they promptly do something to depress the share price. last time around it was the St. Jude purchase ( announced within two days of my comments ) and this time a big share issue ( it took them only two hours this time ) . it's like a curse.
